When its time comes, the dragonfly leaves the water to discover the air. In the past, when a child was born, a tree was planted. As the child came of age, the tree began to bear fruit. In order to grow, a crayfish must shed its shell and become vulnerable. Equally vulnerable is a back left unprotected. Smoke is the visible sign of a transformation brought about by fire. A weir, meanwhile, records with every passing second a current that is never the same. Like our bodies, which bear the marks of gradual maturation. The marks of life.

The work of Sára Konečná and Tereza Štětinová is united by the theme of transformation, a fundamental element of every form of life on this earth. From the moment we come into being until the end, we undergo change. Some changes are ritualised and visible, and we attach greater significance to them. Others occur imperceptibly and continuously, within us or as a result of external forces. Although we often resist change, we instinctively sense that it is inevitable if we are to mature.

In order to grow, we must allow change to take place. The exhibition Ripening, created in collaboration between European Arts and Art Part Club, invites us to immerse ourselves consciously in this process through the paintings of Sára Konečná and the sculptures of Tereza Štětinová.
